Berry Smoothie Recipes

Tropical Smoothie

1 cup seedless watermelon diced

1 mango, peeled and seeded

1 papaya, peeled and seeded

1/2 cup fresh strawberries

1/4 cup blueberries

1/3 cup orange juice

1 1/2 teaspoons honey

5 or 6 ice cubes

Orange slices

Place ingredient and ice cubes in blender. Pour into glasses. Ganish with orange slices. Makes 2 servings.

Strawberry Fields Fruit Smoothie

1 cup orange juice

½ cup vanilla low-fat yogurt

1/3 cup fresh or frozen strawberries

¼ cup fresh banana

Place all ingredients into blender and process until smooth. If too thick, Add a bit of orange juice and blend for 5 seconds. Makes 1 ¾ cups

Triple-Berry Antioxidant Wow

1 cup ice cubes

½ cup blueberries

½ cup blackberries

1/4 cup drained silken tofu

2 tablespoons acai juice

2 teaspoons agave nectar

1/2 teaspoon ground cardamon

Place all ingredients into blender and process until smooth.

Tangy Cherry-Berry Yum

1 cup ice cubes

½ cup sliced strawberries

½ cup pitted and halved cherries

1/2 cup low-fat plain Greek yogurt

2 teaspoons ground flaxseed

3/4 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Place all ingredients into blender and process until smooth.

Double Berry Fruit Smoothie

1 cup apple juice

¼ cup fresh or frozen raspberries

1/3 cup fresh or frozen strawberries

½ cup strawberrylow-fat yogurt

Place all ingredients into blender and process until smooth. Makes 1 ¾ cups

Classic Strawberry Smoothie

8 fresh or frozen strawberries, stems out

½ cup low fat milk

½ cup vanillalow-fat yogurt

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

6 ice cubes, crushed

whole fresh strawberries

In a blender combine ingredients. Toss in ice. Blend until smooth and Creamy. Pour into glasses. Top each glass with a whole fresh strawberry. Makes 2 servings.

Spring Smoothie

1 cup strawberrylow-fat yogurt

1 1/8 cup fresh sliced strawberries

1 cup pineapple chunks

1 ripe kiwi fruit, peeled and diced

½ cup orange juice

4-6 ice cubes

fresh kiwi slices

Place ingredients in blender. Cover and blend until smooth. Add ice cubes one at a time until mixture is thick. Pour into 3 frosted mugs. Garnish with fresh kiwi slices. Makes 3 servings.

Cherry Smoothie

1 cup cherry low-fatyogurt

¾ cup cranberry juice

½ cup frozen blueberries

3 ice cubes

whole fresh cherries with stems

Place ingredients in blender. Top each glass with a fresh cherry with stem. Makes 2 servings.

EZ Tropical Smoothie

Blend ½ cup each of plain low fat yogurt and orange juice with ½ frozen banana and a few frozen strawberries.

Mixed Berry-Banana Smoothie

You can increase berries to 1 1/2 cups and use just half a banana if desired. When using frozen berries, eliminate ice cubes.

1 cup mixed berries (raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, strawberries) fresh or frozen

1 banana

2/3 cup nonfat milk

2 ice cubes

Combine ingredients in blender. Puree until smooth. Serves 1

Strawberry Shake

1/2 cup skim milk powder

1/2 cup milk

1 cup ice cream

1/2 cup strawberries

Blend all ingredients well.Serves 1 to 2.
